BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT

Children of preschool age are learning many new things. One of these things is learning what behaviors are acceptable and unacceptable. Preschool teachers help children learn to control their own behavior in socially acceptable ways. This will help the growth of self-discipline and self-control in each child, consistent with individual needs and development.

Teachers (and other staff members) will:

  • Use a gentle approach to behavior modification.
  • Be firm when necessary and consistent.
  • Establish, with children's help, general rules for the health, safety and well being for all children.
  • Treat aggressive behavior firmly, but in a positive way.
  • Cooperative planning approach with parents when difficult problems arise.
  • Teach by example and with calm confidence that we learn by making mistakes, accepting them and modifying future behavior.
  • Provide a constructive atmosphere with sensible limits, socially, physically and emotionally.

Children will at all times be treated with Respect and Caring.

No child will ever be:

  • Subjected to corporal punishment
  • Subjected to cruel or sever punishment, humiliation, or verbal abuse.
  • Denied food as a form of punishment.
  • Be punished for soiling, wetting or not using the toilet.
  • Subjected to force feeding
